Logistics UK-approved Avail driver app on course for 20,000 registered users

While the UK Government is doing all it can to encourage HGV drivers to get back behind the wheel, the creators of a recruitment driver platform and app specifically for hauliers and Class 1 and Class 2 HGV license holders have already seen a surge in registrations. In simple terms, the highly successful Avail driver app streamlines the whole communication system between the two.

The fact that the Avail platform is on target to achieve 20,000 registered users by the end of the year proves two things. First, the app is an extremely helpful ‘tool’ to enable drivers and hauliers to create effective and cost-efficient working relationships. Second, with the volume of signups, it is clear that there are many Class 1 and Class 2 HGV license holders out there who are able to work and who are actively looking for work.

The popularity of the app has been greatly enhanced as a direct result of the letter sent out last week from the Department for Transport to approaching one million currently licensed HGV drivers, many of whom had found alternative work as a direct result of the devastating impact both Brexit and the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the road transport business. The letter is openly asking those who stopped driving HGVs to reconsider and to make the most of an opportunity where working conditions and levels or payment have now been greatly improved.

More to the point, that letter includes a direct link to Logistics UK, which represents the entire logistics industry in the UK. This has led to a surge in the popularity of the Avail driver platform as Logistics UK has listed Avail as one of the five officially recognised “HGV Driver Job Opportunities” that the organisation is promoting.

The app is perfect for the current environment as it is simple to use, whether from a haulier’s or driver’s perspective, and it is cost-effective in that it cuts out hefty agency fees. Where employers are concerned, they simply need to post the job using the app, and it will be sent to all drivers who would be appropriate for the task. As a driver, while you are out on the road, you can still receive notifications of new work as it comes up, and you can apply for them with just a few taps of the screen on your smartphone.

As we live in an increasingly ratings-oriented world where we can read reviews about every place we eat or every product we buy, Avail has been quick to maximise the potential advantages of this, by enabling drivers to rate hauliers and hauliers to rate drivers. As logic dictates, the best hauliers will attract the best drivers, and the best drivers will be attractive to those hauliers. In other words, each time a driver and haulier deliver exactly on all aspects of any contract, the more their reputations will grow.

Additionally, without agency fees, hauliers can offer attractive rates to attract maximum response via the app, and through creating a sense of ‘community’ by spreading the word, drivers will be able to attract more and more hauliers to register with Avail. It becomes a self-feeding set-up that benefits the industry nationwide.

For any of you who may be slightly sceptical of the Avail driver app’s potential and benefits, the fact that it has been endorsed by Logistics UK should speak volumes, and it is an endorsement of the developers of the Avail driver app are extremely proud of.

Commenting on the endorsement by Logistics UK, Steven Rogers, Head of Marketing for Avail commented: “We knew that, in time, the platform would be used throughout the transport industry, but that it would take time. However, with today’s supply chain problems urgently needing all the solutions possible, our app looks as though it will soon become indispensable. We were thrilled to have Logistics UK give us their seal of approval and recommend us to both drivers and hauliers who are looking to successfully navigate through this difficult situation and we look forward to having such a positive influence on getting the supply chain working more efficiently again”.
